Morir Soñando

Morir soñando, or “to die dreaming,” originated in the Dominican Republic and is a delicious way to beat the summer heat. The drink consists of only a few ingredients, but it’s important that the orange juice and evaporated milk are chilled before mixing and that everything is poured in the right order to avoid curdling. I prefer keeping the sugar crunchy so that it’s more of a dessert-like treat, but if you want the sugar to completely dissolve, remember to mix it well into the evaporated milk before adding the ice.

1 servings

  1. Combine the sugar, vanilla extract, ice, and evaporated milk, and stir well to mix the ingredients. The mixing will also help chill the evaporated milk more.
  2. In a separate cup, combine the lemon juice and the orange juice.
  3. Add the orange juice and lemon mix to the evaporated milk by pouring slowly while stirring nonstop. Continue to stir after the juice has been poured. Drink immediately.
