Ingredients
3 md
tomatillos, husks removed and chopped
2 tbsp
chopped onion
2
serrano peppers or 1 jalapeño pepper, chopped
⅓ c
(75 ml) water, plus 1 to 2 tablespoons (15 to 30 ml) more, if needed
6
sprigs fresh cilantro, chopped
1 md
ripe avocado, halved and pitted
Salt, to taste
This salsa is very simple and easy to prepare, and you can make it just before serving. It’s great to serve with Carnitas, Tacos de Bistec, or any type of crispy tacos. The avocado tames the spiciness of the peppers a bit, making this an excellent salsa for those who aren’t used to or don’t like spicy foods.
NOTA The acidity of the tomatillos allows this salsa to keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Directions
- Place the tomatillos in a blender, along with the onion, peppers, and water. Blend to a coarse texture.
- Add the cilantro and avocado. Blend again until it reaches desired consistency, either smooth and creamy or chunky.
- Season with the salt and serve in a bowl.
