Store-Bought Crispy Gnocchi with Tomato Sauce and Peas
This is a recipe (if you can even call it that) on regular rotation in my house. It’s filling, there’s a vegetable involved, and it takes five minutes. On those busy Tuesday nights, this is a go-to.
3-4 servings
- Drizzle the olive oil in a skillet and heat to medium-high. Add gnocchi, breaking up the pieces as needed. Stir occasionally, until gnocchi are crispy on the outside and lightly brown, about 5 minutes. If the pan gets too dry, add more oil or a splash of water. Taste a gnocco to check for doneness—it should have a soft center and crisp outside and be a bit fun-chewy, similar to mochi.
- Meanwhile, pour frozen peas into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute, stir, and heat in additional 30-second increments as needed until peas are warm. In a medium pot, warm the jarred tomato sauce until slightly bubbling.
- Place the gnocchi in individual bowls, with warmed tomato sauce. Garnish with the grated cheese.
