A Nonalcoholic Martini for Up-With-a-Twist Martini Lovers
This is a nonalcoholic take on a classic gin or vodka martini served chilled and with a twist of lemon peel. To mimic the sharp taste of alcohol, you’ll use preserved lemons. Typically found in specialty stores, they come in many variations, so your flavor will vary and might require some warm water to cut the sharp flavor of the salty and sour liquid. Members of the olive-haters anonymous crowd will delight in this slightly piquant sipper. While this alcohol-free cocktail won’t replace the real thing, with the right glassware and lighting, you just might be able to convince yourself you’re drinking a martini in Monaco.
1 serving
- Chill a martini glass in the freezer for 1 hour.
- Pour ingredients into an 8 oz (or larger) glass jar.
- Chill in the freezer for 30 to 40 minutes, or freeze overnight and let the mixture defrost in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
- When ready to serve, peel a lemon and squeeze the peel over the glass to release the oils, then drop the peel into the glass.
